The invention discloses a gear selection and shift mechanism of a manual transmission, which comprises a gear shifting fork, a gear shift shifting block, a gear selection and shift shaft, a gear selection and shift sleeve barrel which is sleeved on the gear selection and shift shaft and a gear selection return pin which is fixedly arranged, wherein the outer surface of the gear selection and shift sleeve barrel is provided with a V-shaped groove; the end part of the gear selection return pin is elastically in contact with the surface of the V-shaped groove; and the gear shift shifting block and the gear selection and shift sleeve barrel are fixedly connected. The V-shaped groove on the outer surface of the gear selection and shift sleeve barrel is matched with the gear selection return pin, and when the gear selection and shift sleeve barrel axially moves to select a gear, the gear selection return pin can generate thrust force to an inclined plane of the V-shaped groove so as to ensure that the gear selection and shift sleeve barrel automatically returns to a central position to facilitate the next gear selection and shift operation. At the same time, the gear selection and shiftsleeve barrel adopts an integrated integration structure which comprises a multifunctional safety device capable of automatically locking, mutually locking (reverse gear locking) and transmitting neutral gear signals and reverse gear signals. The gear selection and shift mechanism ensures that actions of each functional part are more coordinated and reliability, reduces the number of parts, and is good in manufacturability, convenient in assembly and reduced in manufacturing cost.
