Moving Commercial Trucks from Telematics to VII

The commercial truck transport industry aggressively adopts sophisticated systems that improve efficiency and safety performance. Trucks operate solely for economic gain therefore technologies that produce commercial benefits are generally accepted by the industry. Acceptance of technology in passenger cars are more stratified yielding high acceptance in the luxury class, mixed to late adoption in the midsize class and little to no acceptance in the economy class. This paper examines the comparatively broad use of telematics and safety technology in commercial vehicles and makes the case that trucks may play a major role in the deployment of VII.
