Piecewise linear system identification via Walsh functions

This paper presents an iterative level algorithm (ILA), via Walsh functions, for parameter identification in piecewise linear dynamical systems. The method is similar to the iterative shift algorithm (ISA) of Prasada Rao and Sivakumar (1976, 1979) suggested for time-lag systems. Certain non-linear systems are modelled better by piecewise linear elements and the computations in identifying the related parameters are simpler than those of analytic models.
