Characteristic analysis of a novel 6/5 c-core type three-phase Switched Reluctance Motor

This paper presents a design and analysis of a novel 6/5 three-phase Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). The proposed motor is designed with no permanent magnet (PM) in the rotor and stator. Stator of the proposed motor employs a c-core structure with short magnetic flux. To verify the proposed design, a comparison between the proposed motor and the conventional ones with the same dimension is executed. The comparison result shows that the proposed motor offers a better performance in term of efficiency and torque production. Furthermore, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Matlab/Simulink software are used to predict and simulate the performance of the proposed motor.
