Numerical simulation of wall thinning in the process of multi-point forming for tube

Based on dynamic explicit FEM(ABAQUS/Explicit),a 3-D FEM model of the process of multi-point forming for tube was built.The effect of wall thickness,curvature radius and material parameters on the thickness of tube was simulated and analyzed.It shows that increasing the wall thickness and the curvature radius is beneficial for controlling wall thinning of tube.The influence of wall thickness on the thickness of tube is not significant.As the curvature radius increases,the change of the rate of wall thinning is quite obvious.The wall thinning increases quite fast before the cross-section distortion of tube occurs.The rupture can be prevented effectively with a reasonable material selected.The results can play directory role for determining the parameters of multi-point forming of tube.
