Analysis of techniques for accelerating IPTV channel change

IPTV services have become as a key application over wired and wireless networks. Because of their advantages, they are undergoing rapid progress. However, the increased Channel Change Response Time (CCRT) is still regarded as of significant challenge for IPTV systems. CCRT is one of the most irritating factors of IPTV services. For this reason, a number of methods have been proposed to reduce CCRT. In this paper, we classify previously proposed techniques according to parameters to create CCRT, and analyze them in order to provide a better understanding of research challenges for fast IPTV channel changes.
