URGENCY FOR A SAFER AMERICA

This paper reports the results of a study by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, engineers, and crash injury statisticians studying methods to improve the triage, transport, and treatment of people injured in crashes. The team examined the latest available crash injury data and emerging technologies and conducted hundreds of statistical analyses to develop improvements in the care of seriously injured crash victims. They focused on how to identify, rapidly and automatically, those vehicles in which people suffer life-threatening injuries.
