A Heterogeneous Network Selection Algorithm Based on Multi-attribute Decision Making Method

The selection of access network in heterogeneous network environment can not only be based on physical signal intensity,so a network selection algorithm based on multi-attribute decision making is proposed.With traffic requirements,preference of user and difference of available networks considered,the algorithm calculates the weights of network attributes using analytic hierarchy process and entropy theory.Then,the performance of each available network is counted,based on which the optimum network is selected.Simulation results show that the algorithm performs well in network selection,and reduces the number of handover times and the packet loss probability as the user moves through the network boundary frequently.
