Abstract : This report describes the theory and operation a computer program referred to as SPADE (Signal Processing and Data Enhancement. SPADE is a computer program for the numerical processing of transducer signal data available in the form of the digital computer files from air-blast structural response trials. In addition, the program can graphically compare the processed data with predictions made using the finite element structural analysis computer programs VAST and ADINA. SPADE is a fully interactive program that can be run from a computer terminal. The Tektronix TCS PLOT 10 and AGII packages are used to optionally give an interactive plotting capability. The program has a reasonably comprehensive set of options which makes it easy and convenient to process the voluminous amount of data that can be generated during a shock wave-structure interaction experiment. With reasonable ease the program can be adapted to the processing of any type of transducer output. However, the application of SPADE described in this manual is to the processing of data from pressure transducers, accelerometers, and strain gauges on simple plates and stiffened panels exposed to air-blast shock wave loading.
