Web and Multimedia Systems Development – State of the Practice

In late years, there is a much academic interest in the development of complex hypermedia systems, particularly web-based one. Literature suggests that dominant development approach is an ad hoc approach which fails to address many aspects of hypermedia systems development. Hence, many specialized web/hypermedia design methods have been introduced to discipline a development process and to cover the issues that software engineering development paradigms don't. However, some studies are showing that web and multimedia development is not as chaotic as regarded despite the fact that those specialized methods are not widely used. To explore Croatian web design organizations' practice of web and multimedia development, a web survey was conducted. This paper presents study’ s findings.
