A High-Frequency Simulation Model of a MV Cable Joint

The paper presents a high-frequency model of a medium-voltage cable joint. The joint model enables calculation of the transmission line parameters over the joint length in the frequency domain with all geometrical changes and all variations of the materials. The model is based on a well-known simulation model for energy cables, which has been enhanced to represent a cable joint. The presented work introduces a connection joint with a geometrical field regulation. This type of joint was chosen because, at higher voltages, such types of field regulation are used most commonly. The model calculates the transmission line parameters over a broad frequency band with a detailed representation of a real joint.
