Science Education for the Future.

This article provides a summary of the principal arguments and recommendations in the report Beyond 2000: Science education for the future. Funded by the Nuffield Foundation, this report is the product of a seminar series held between January 1997 and April 1998 attended by teachers, science education lecturers, inspectors and others. It argues for a new vision of science education, offering ten recommendations for change, and, it is hoped, will contribute to the debate about the nature of the future science curriculum and provide a rationale and strategy for future curriculum development.
