DMGD reducing in few-mode fiber optic links by special refractive index profile and selective mode excitation provided by designed MDM channels placement scheme over fiber core end

This work presents method for differential mode group delay (DMGD) reducing in fiber optic links with enlarged core diameter silica GeO2-doped few-mode optical fibers (FMFs). Proposed solution is based on optimization of graded refractive index profile form providing guided mode staff DMGD equalization and following selective mode excitation by designed scheme of MDM channels placement over fiber core.
