Switchable printed monopole antenna with frequency diversity for WiFi/2.6 GHz WiMAX/3.5 GHz WiMAX applications

A printed reconfigurable monopole antenna with frequency diversity, which is suitable for WiFi (2400-2484 MHz) and WiMAX (2500-2690/3400-3600 MHz) band is presented. A SPST (single-pole, single-throw) designed switch using a single series connected PIN (positive intrinsic-negative) diode is attached to the radiating element for frequency diversity. By controlling the states of the PIN diode, the antenna can be operated at two different frequencies. The proposed antenna in the study is described. Experimental results are also shown and discussed.
