Method for displaying background screen of portable terminal

PURPOSE: A background image display method of a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to select various contents with a desired position and size to his/her taste and designate a selected one as a background image of his/her mobile terminal. CONSTITUTION: A CPU of a mobile terminal stores a downloaded contents file in a memory and analyzes it sequentially(301). If the contents file describes an image module(303), the CPU decodes the image(305) and displays it as a background image on a screen(307). If the contents file describes a time module(309), the CPU calculates a current time on the basis of a system time(311) and generates a time image(313). The CPU displays the time image as a background image on the screen(315). If the contents file describes a text module(317), the CPU checks text information(319) and displays the text as a background image on the screen(321). If the contents file describes an application execution/managing module, the CPU checks icon information from an icon module and displays each execution icon as a background image on the screen(323). The CPU checks whether each application described in an application execution/management module is using a network(325). If an application is using a network, the CPU accesses the network at every pre-set period by using network connection information described in the application execution/management module(327) to download specific information(329), and indicates general information on the execution icon of the pertinent application(331).
