A Coverage-Aware QoS Control in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) get more and more attentions in recent years. Most of WSN research focus on routing and data aggregation, but only a few papers discuss the QoS area. In an earlier work, an approach based on the Gur game was introduced. The Gur game-based scheme does not consider the coverage of active sensors. If the active sensors are distributed too densely or too sparsely, this may cause problem of collecting redundant data and wasting bandwidth and battery energy. This paper proposes the Coverage Aware QoS Control (CAQC) to control both the QoS and coverage. The simulation results show that CAQC indeed improve the weakness and keep the strength of the Gur game-based scheme.
