Improvisation of Localization Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract The advancement in the Information and Communication technology have enabled the growth of Wireless Sensor Networks. Now a day, Wireless Sensor Networks are being used in different environments to perform multiple tasks including monitoring, health, rescue and a number of tasks in smart environments. The major factor to be considered in Wireless Sensor Network is Node localization. Node localization is the parameter that defines the area of interest and the coverage of nodes. So, one of the fundamental challenges in Wireless Sensor Network is node localization. In this paper, we analyze the signal strength variations. Since the signal strength varies with the distance, we analyze simple components that depicts the relation of signal strength and time with respect to distance which is important for all other sensor node functioning. A simulation approach is presented based on the Ptolemy simulation environment, specifically in Visual Sense which is built on top of Ptolemy II.
