Polarization mode dispersion penalties associated with rotation of principal states of polarization in optical fiber

We have measured the effect of rotation of the principal states of polarization (PSP) by using a dispersion-compensated system and focusing attention on wavelengths where the PSP rotation rate is large and the differential group delay is low.
