A planar ultrawideband linear array with resistor-loaded FSS

In this paper, an infinite linear tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA) based on interdigital structure is investigated and a resistive FSS is incorporated into the linear array to expand the bandwidth. Traditional fabrication method of the resistive FSS is using resistive material, but it is expensive and complicated. To address this issue, a method of fabricating the resistive FSS by lumped resistors is introduced. Based on the resistor-loaded resistive FSS, an E-plane infinite linear array was simulated, and the results show that the array can achieve 8.8∶1 bandwidth from 0.37 – 3.26 GHz and scan to ±45° in E-plane.
