A Fast, Electro-Optical, Hot-Gas Pyrometer

The theory, development, and design features of a fast, electro-optical pyrometer are given. This pyrometer, whose response can be made very rapid, will continuously indicate the temperature of hot gases that are either naturally luminous or are made luminous at particular wavelengths. A discussion is given of the optical design features to be considered in this and other similar instruments and of the equality of the defined terms, emissivity, and absorptivity.
