A Generic VSC HVDC Primary Control Structure Suitable for Stability Studies

transmission is described with block d iagrams in this p aper. While the primary control facilitates set-point tracking for small and large disturbances, converter blocking is initiated via the blocking logic. The adaptable control structure to change operation modes facilitates testing of various primary control approaches. Stability studies with dc side faults can be more accurately implemented with converter blocking functionality. For the purpose of studying also dc side fault clearing, a simple dc breaker implementation is outlined. Time domain simulations in Digsilent's Powerfactory platform are provided to justify the claims.
