The Effectiveness of Industrial Training from the Perspective of Engineering Students

This paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of industrial training from the perspective of engineering students who went for an industrial training in order to fulfill the requirement to graduate as an engineer. A questionnaire was distributed to third year students of Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The obtained data were used to assess the effectiveness of industrial training from students' perspective on whether their perception on knowledge, skills and attitude about working in engineering environment has improved, remain unchanged, or decreased. More than 50% of the students answered that industrial training had increased their knowledge and skills. In order to plan for a better career in the future, to gain knowledge and experience from industrial training is an important factor.
