A Web-based CMS/PDM Integration for Product Design and Manufacturing

This paper is a practical application to integrate CMS (content management system) with PDM (product data management) in product design and manufacturing phases. The trends of Internet development and the popularity of World Wide Web have changed the business models of global enterprises, and the importance of CMS has increased dramatically in recent years, but the open source CMS is usually criticized for the lack of applications in manufacturing fields. This study creates a Web-based PDM system with open source CMS providing the Internet computer-aided design environment for the information creating, sharing, and managing in the product design/manufacturing phases. With the flexibility features of open source CMS, the further PDM functions can be installed, modified or developed.
