Middle School

For boys and girls in Grades 6, 7, and 8 Workshop limited to 15 participants This program could aspire towards a more peaceful and cooperative L/A community since developing verbal strategies as a response to conflict situations has been proven particularly effective in reducing instances of violance in middle school populations. This program would also cultivate an ongoing interest in public speech and debate in the school and community at large. Participants will mentor with High School students in the Bates popular “National Policy Institute” where students will adopt a middle school student and take them to and through the debates on Thursday and Friday and judge the middle school debates on the last day of camp.
