A new high linearity LMV based receiver front-end for IEEE 802.15.4 applications

This paper describes the design and simulation of a new high-gain, high-linearity, and low-power Low-IF (1–3 MHz) LMV cell based receiver front-end for WPAN (IEEE 802.15.4) applications in a 0.18μm CMOS technology with a voltage supply of 1.2 V. Adding triode-region transistor in the RF path of the conventional LMV cell, the linearity of the cell is increased about 9 dBm. Improving the linearity will result in the decrease of the gain of the cell. In order to solve this problem, a positive feedback is utilized at the IF output, which improves both the gain and the linearity of the cell at IF band.
