Impacts of ADC Parameters on the Performance of MLSE-decoding in 10G-optics Enabled 50-Gb/s PAM-4 Transmission System

Impacts of sampling jitter and resolution of ADC on the performance of MLSE-decoding 50-Gb/s PAM-4 transmission system are investigated. Experimental results show ~-11.5 dBm sensitivity is achieved by 5-bit ADC with ±5ps timing jitter tolerance.
