A 8x8 all optical space-switch based on a novel 8x1 MOEMS switching module

We report a 8x8 switch based on a novel MOEMS technology allowing wide bandwidth (1300-1650 nm), fast switching ( 50 dB) and high modularity. This switch allow the realization of high capacity optical cross-connects (e.g.1024x1024).
