The study was conducted on the training strategy preferred by the Dairy Farm Instructors (DFIs) of the Dairy Development Department of Kerala. The data were collected through structured questionnaires to which 75 DFIs out of 120 responded. Respondents’ preference for the training strategy was assessed for the major subject matter areas of milk and milk products and dairy cattle production and management. The most preferred type of training was the institutional learning for both the subject matter areas. Practice in demonstration was the most preferred method of training followed by study tour for both the domains. Experts from outside the parent organization but within the state were the most preferred trainers. State Veterinary College was perceived as the most preferred venue for training in dairy cattle production and management. For the domain of milk and milk products, premier institutes outside Kerala were found as the most preferred venue.
