Evaluation of a fluorocarbon bonded silica using packed capillary column supercritical fluid chromatography

A newly commercialized fluorinated silica, Fluofix 120N [1H,1H,2H,2H,3H,3H-tridecafluoro(4,4-dimethylheptyl)silyl bonded spherical microporous silica gel], was used as a packing material for supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). The performance and stability of this fluorinated phase were examined under different experimental conditions. The SFC behavior of this phase was compared with a conventional C18 bonded reversed phase. The excellent separation power of the Fluofix 120N phase for fluorinated compounds was demonstrated by high-resolution separations of different perfluorinated polymers. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
