Primary Characteristic and Management Process Correlates with Size and Age in Smaller Growth Enterprises

AbstractThe objective of this paper is to contribute to knowledge of the distinguishing features of smaller growth enterprises by examining apparent associations between the size and age of such enterprises and their primary characteristics and management processes. The impression gained from the research described is that, in the sample studied and for the features in question, enterprise size appears to be influential and generally has greater power as an explanatory variable for differences between enterprises than age. Drawing on the findings of the study, a number of hypotheses relating to smaller growth enterprises are proposed as a basis for further inquiry.
