A comparative study of OBS and OFS

This paper evaluates the performance of two promising approaches for IP over WDM networks, namely optical burst switching (OBS) and optical flow switching (OFS), based on both synthetic and real traffic. We show that there is significantly better throughput when using OBS rather than OFS. We believe that this is a result of more efficient just-enough-time bandwidth reservation scheme used in OBS.
