Abstract A new developed and designed Real-time Expert Intelligent Control System, REICS, for industrial process control has been introduced in this paper. The global architecture and the diagram of the hardward and softward of REICS have been proposed.ln the global design of REICS a multi-level method of the knowledge representation based on the combination of the frame, production rules and real-time procedure has been discussed, and used to represent the control knowledge and algorithms of the control system meanwhile, the reasoning mechanisms of the three control levels—organization level, coordination level and real-time control level—are described in detail;the control strategies, the flow charts of the reasoning program and the related rules and algorithms are expounded. The proposed development tool and control method have been simulated and executed, and applied to the speed control of a D.C. motor which control performances are superior to the ones of the variable structure control.REICS is specially available to intelligent control of the middle and large industrial process control systems with imprecisely and uncertainly mathematical model.
