WSP-a processor for real-time wheel slip measurement in vehicles

The background and the design are presented of a VLSI processor which interfaces with a car's standard ABS sensors and calculates wheel slip in real time. The chip was designed in a top-down fashion, starting with a behavioral description in a high-level language, proceeding to a functional description, and continuing to gate-level design. Design for testability features are incorporated in the chip. The processor is implemented as a single-chip ASIC on the IMS Gate Forest sea-of-gates template, with the regular data path custom designed and wired by abutment and the control portion using a standard cell approach.<<ETX>>
