WIP tracking and monitoring system based on RFID

In this paper, RFID is applied in work-in-process (WIP) tracking and monitoring. RFID readers that could capture WIP by identifying tags attached on it are equipped at every stations and buffer zones. The proposed WIP tracking and monitoring system based on RFID is a closed-loop system and composed of RFID subsystem, data processing subsystem, tracking and monitoring subsystem. Generalizing goals of the system, we built the network architecture and function model. And then RFID based WIP tracking method by which the current position of WIP and its finished procedure route could be got was discussed. Lastly, RFID based analysis model of WIP processing was also discussed. Lastly, risk and progress analysis model of finished procedures for WIP were built to evaluate the probability of risk occuring in produciton and the satisfactory degree of WIP progress.
