Evolvement and Mechanism of Export Value Chain in China

Value chain length of production and export reflects technology status of different industries.This paper proposes three methods to measure the length of export value chain in different industries assuming that manufacturing technology changes in different manners.Owing to the prolongation of production value chain and changes in export structure,the export value chain length of China's manufacturing industry shows a rising trend from 2001 to 2010,approaching to the value chain length of China's import from OECD,which demonstrates that China's manufacturing export products are transferring to the relative upstream of production and upgrade in global value chains.This helps the manufacturing industry get more export interest.
