Application of source generation of waves in 3D fully nonlinear numerical wave tank

A three-dimensional fully nonlinear numerical wave tank(NWT) model was founded based on a time-domain higher-order boundary element method(HOBEM) to eliminate wave reflection at outflow boundary and secondary reflection at the incident boundary from a structure. The source generation of waves was used to generate input waves and the artificial damping layers were adopted to eliminate wave reflection and secondary reflection.A channel Green function was founded and applied in entire computational domain, and thus the integral on the two lateral sides and bottom were excluded, and the calculation complexity was reduced.Numerical experiments on regular and irregular waves using the model in a wave tank show that the numerical results match well with analytical solutions, and it has no reflection on both outflow boundary and incident boundary.
