Performance assessment of a shuffle-based ATM switch

Proposes a shuffle-based architecture and associated access and routing protocols for an ATM switch and presents simulation results on its performance. The switch is seen to possess certain inherent admission control features which are attractive in supporting variable rate services in an ATM environment. Comparisons are made with the tandem Banyan architecture. All-optical implementations are discussed.<<ETX>>
