Forty patients were included. They were males, of less than 75 years of age, ambulatory and suffering from stable effort angina, i.e. angina having appeared at least 1 month previously Untreated, the effort angina had to be characterized by at least 5 attacks in a week. The patients were not to have sustained a myocerdial infarction during the three months prior to the study
