Schemes of Network Survivability Based on Differentiated Traffic

Survivability of WDM networks is considered as a critical issue to maintain a high level of service due to the capability of carrying huge volume of traffic. Indeed, network resource is not abundant and survivability scheme might not be provided to all the traffic. One of the major concerns of WDM network is to improve the network connection reliability especially in some critical traffic requiring high availability and reliability such as e-commerce applications. As a main contribution in this paper, we propose an improvement of the existing protection schemes based on the introduction of prior connections model aiming to the different traffic. Simulation results show that connection reliability of critical traffic is improved when deploying the proposed differentiated protection scheme and network resource utilization is also increased at one time .
