Dimensioning and numerical modelling of metal-fibre reinforced concrete (MFRC) structures

Abstract This paper discusses points related to the inclusion of MFRCs in French design rules and to numerical modelling (finite element method) of these fibrous composite materials. It is shown that as the use of these design rules for dimensioning of fibre reinforced concrete structures leads to an inoperative result, it is necessary to develop numerical modelling to justify, mechanically, the interest in this type of application. In this framework, a numerical modelling method is proposed.
