Energy Performance Simulations of a Grid-connected PV System Supplying a Residential House in the North-western of Algeria

Abstract Solar energy is anticipated to play a major role in electricity generation in Algeria. This source of energy is considered as an opportunity and a lever for economic and social development, particularly through the establishment of wealth and job-creating industries. However, the use of solar PV in habitat is almost absent. In order to help decision-makers use solar energy in the building sector and implement policy packages that can deliver a deep path of energy consumption reductions and associated CO2 emissions mitigation from buildings, this paper discusses findings from technical simulations of grid-connected photovoltaic system supplying a home electricity load with backup electricity network in north-western of Algeria. From this point of view, this case can be generalized for northern Algeria houses and for worldwide sites which have the same sunning conditions.
