Learning organisation disciplines and internet usage: an empirical study from Malaysia

This paper examines the relationship between Senge's five Learning Organisation (LO) disciplines and internet usage using the survey method. Data was collected from managers of 88 Information Technology (IT) companies in Malaysia via self-administered questionnaires. The statistical results reveal that the type of internet applications utilised by the companies is significantly related to personal mastery, shared vision, team learning and systems thinking. The purposes of internet usage are significantly related to personal mastery, mental models and shared vision, while benefits of internet usage has significant relationship with shared vision only. The managerial implications of these results are discussed.
