WIND SPEED MODEL FOR DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF WIND POWER GENERATION SYSTEM

Wind power generator sets are much different from traditional ones, such as gas turbine-generator sets, for power of the wind turbines cannot be controlled substantially, due to variability and uncontrollable of the wind. As the wind conditions impact largely on performance of the wind power generation systems, wind speed model is important in simulation of the systems. This paper deals with stochastic characteristic of the wind speed, and gives an auto-regressive moving-average (ARMA) model for wind speed subjected to particular power spectral density. Simulation result is given for analysis and validity, and is compared with that of other model. It is concluded that the proposed ARMA model is effective in wind speed simulation.
