Contrast-cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) provides the opportunity to visualise myocardial fibrosis and scarring in vivo by virtue of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD), as well as in a variety of other structural cardiac diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
