Ranking of fan broadband noise sources based on an experimental parametric study

The present paper reports experimental results of aerodynamic and acoustic investigations carried out on the low-speed fan rig of the DLR in Berlin. The influence of diverse fan parameters on broadband noise is explicitely related to the measured fan aerodynamics. The experimental data are then coupled to noise prediction models, which enable the ranking of the different noise sources. Promising results suggest a good potential of the adopted methodology for application to further fan rigs.
