This paper presents the design, performance analysis and experimental results of a two-phase Transverse Flux Rotary Machine (TFRM) with orthogonal lamination stator core. This design is adopted to take the advantage of different kinds of material which are soft magnetic composite (SMC) in the mover core and laminated steel sheet in the stator core. The computation is carried out by three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA) to considered 3D flux path which is a distinguishing feature of TFRM. A prototype motor is fabricated and shows the good agreement with analysis.
