The invention discloses a structural body and a design method, and firstly provides the structural which is arranged in a debris flow gully and used for preventing starting of debris flows aiming at the technical defect that a conventional active control technical scheme for debris flows can be implemented on the basis of a large amount of field measuring and mapping work. The structural body comprises at least one prevention structural unit, wherein each prevention structural unit comprises a frame beam, steel pipe piles and a gabion; the frame beam is arranged on a debris flow gully bed and is a frame body which is formed by longitudinal beams and transverse beams which are perpendicular mutually on the same plane; the steel pipe piles are connected with the longitudinal beams and the transverse beams, arranged in axial directions of the longitudinal beams and the transverse beams, located below the frame beam and buried in the debris flow gully bed; and a plane space of the frame beam is filled with the gabion. The invention also discloses the design method of the structural body. According to the structural body and the design method, on-way erosion destructive force and impact destructive force to a hazard-affected body of the debris flows can be effectively weakened, the construction speed of the structural body is high, emergency rescue and disaster relief applications are facilitated, and the design method is scientific, simple and convenient.
