Planning Sustainable Transport

If society is to cope with sustainability and climate change, transportation choices must be transformed; yet this can only happen with an understanding of how complex transport systems work. A cross-disciplinary overview of transportation systems and the ways in which they interact with urban and regional planning decisions and environmental issues is offered in this book. Critiques of existing methodology and policy are offered. Definitions, trends, problems, objectives and policies of transportation planning are explored, as well as a focus on land use as a major factor in the nature and extent of transportation demand and its key role in sustainable transportation policy. This book is aimed at transportation specialists, planners and property developers.
