Research and Design on Grid-Based Shareable E-learning Platform

With the overall popularity of the Internet, e-learning has become a hot method for learning, enabling people to absorb new knowledge without restrictions on time or place. Shareable course object reference model (SCORM), the most popular e-learning standard, has been adapted in many different e-learning platforms. Generally, courseware meeting SCORM standards is shareable with other e-learning platforms; however, most e-learning platforms do not have the capability to share courseware directly with others on the Internet. To solve this problem, one kind of grid computing technology called ldquodata gridrdquo is introduced and a shareable grid-based e-learning platform (GELP) is designed, allowing the integration of different SCORM platforms into a huge and distributed e-learning environment.
