Data architecture of MGT and method for receiving service information

PURPOSE: A data structure of MGT(Master Guide Table) AND a receiving method of extended information are provided to discriminate whether the contents of an EIT (Event Information Table) is shifted or changed in an MGT bit stream syntax and update the DB formed of the EIT contents in accordance with the discrimination results. CONSTITUTION: The MGT manages the version and PID(Packet Identification) of respective tables including an EIT belong to PSIP(Program and System Information Protocol) defined for a digital broadcasting. ID information discriminating whether the contents of the EIT defined as a sub table in the MGT is shifted is included in syntax of the MGT. The receiving method of extended information comprises two steps. First, the MGT including the ID information discriminating whether the contents of the EIT defined as a sub table in the MGT is changed or is shifted is received. Then, if the ID information represents that the EIT contents is shifted, a DB isn't updated.
